1) Coaches Emerging
Gregg Williams (Washington), Tony Sparano (Miami) and Jason Garrett (Baltimore) are emerging as favourites for the respective openings. No clear vision on the Falcons, so potentially they are waiting for a playoff coach to finish the season, or are still going through the motions.
2) Surprises in Declarations
Ohio State's BCS title game loss seems to have kept some of its potential early leavers in school, with LB James Laurinitis the latest to stay. So far only Vernon Gholston has jumped ship early of the OSU possibles. Michigan WR Mario Manningham has declared - not surprisingly - and Arkansas duo McFadden and Jones have both completed the paperwork. Florida State in and out QB Xavier Lee was asked to move to TE by FSU Coaches, and he declined, choosing to enter the draft, where, in all likeliness, he will be scouted as a WR or TE.
3) Patriots Cemented
The Patriots will win the Superbowl. The Jags put in a mighty effort, but nothing could stop Brady. And nobody will. Except the end of the season. The reward for their dominance is a Top 10 draft pick where they will add youth to their defense. So the rich get richer. The poor - ? - well that is San Diego who have to play the Pats with likely no Rivers, Gates or Tomlison!
