23 JAN - 2008

1) Jags coordinator gets the nod

No not Offensive Co. Dirk Koetter, but the often underappreciated Defensive Guru Mike Smith. The Jaguars have had one of the best defenses in the league the last 4 or so years and now Smith gets rewarded. A quiet character, Smith is the epitomy of everything that Petrino wasn't, something owner Arthur Blank wanted. That leaves on the Redskins to fill.

2) Pryor-ities for QB

Terrelle Pryor is the biggest name in recruiting at the moment as he weighs his decision ahead of signing day. Pryor was favoured to go to West Virginia with Rich Rodriguez, but when RR bolted for Ann Arbor, Pryor added Michigan to his list. As it stands, UM, Ohio State and Oregon are the top 3. Many have the Pennsylvania standout likely to head to OSU, but the chance to start as a freshman at Michigan has to weigh heavy.

3) Henne on the rise

Chad Henne is riding the wave of some early exposure at the senior bowl practices. After an injury plagued senior season, Henne is being tipped to potentially sneak into the first round as maybe the 3rd guy taken at QB. Andre' Woodson has long been tipped, including by this blogger, as the number 3 guy. Combine showings will certainly be a factor.
