1) Coach found cheating = Coach of the Year?
I am huge admirer of the coaching ability of Bill Bellichick. Year in and year out without a team full of superstars (besides a couple of exceptions), he puts together excellent results. But after the 'spygate' scandal this year and the guilty verdict...how can he then be awarded coach of the year?
2) No love for Koetter
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator has led one of the most significant turnarounds as a new coordinator this year, but yet he is not garnering any attention in the college or pro game for Head Coaching jobs. As a former Head Coach at Arizona State, you would think that one of the Div I schools would at least have enquired as to his interest, at the end of next season I wouldn't be surprised to see Koetter end up somewhere as Head Coach.
3) Pre-Draft Needs Evaluation #1 - QB
Several teams will be looking at a QB this off-season, with the draft sure to provide many options. Chicago, Atlanta and Baltimore appear the most immediate needs, with the Jets, Dolphins, 49ers and perhaps Vikings needing to make tough decisions at the position. With Brian Brohm, Matt Ryan and Andre Woodson all solid first round picks, help is on the way. Brohm and Ryan could well be gone in the top ten, with Woodson looking likely mid-round. Add the likes of Colt Brennan, who would suit a West Coast offense team and Chad Henne, and this is a strong class of QB's. Those who reached last draft (such as the Dolphins with Beck) will be kicking themselves. The 'Fins could decide to take a QB at #1, but I feel a trade down could still secure a QB and more. Next up - RB.
