JAN 8 - 2008

1) = LSU

LSU secured the National Championship with a convincing win over Ohio State. For the second straight year OSU scored first then fell apart, allowing the SEC to rule over the Big 10 again.

2) Sanders the Man

Barely anyone knew much about Bob Sanders for most of last year. He was injured and everyone always talked about the Colts offense and Dwight Freeney on D. When Sanders came back, the Colts defensive problems disappeared and the won the Superbowl. This year Sanders has been the MVP of the Colts Defense and was awarded justly the AP Defensive Player of the Year.

3) Jones Jumps

Hawaii coach June Jones is leaving the islands for Dallas - SMU taking over one of the most troubled programs in the land. Why leave a 12-1 team for a 1-11 team? Money. Oh and that love for building a winner. Jones inherited a winless UH team and made them BCS worthy, now he has his hands full. But with the easier recruiting on the mainland, it will be interested to see his offense at work. How will this impact Hawaii? Hugely, particularly in the recruiting game. More to follow later on this.
