10 JAN - 2008

1) Zorn named

Snyder pulled one from left field when rather than hire from outside the organisation, decided to promote newly appointed Off Coordinator Jim Zorn to be Head Coach, beating other more fancied candidates Jim Fassel and Ron Meeks. Zorn was the QB coach for 7 years in Seattle and never even served as an OC, but now is at the helm of the Skins. I guess they are in the market for a West Coast Offense friendly coordinator now.

2) Franchise Money makers

Thursday was the kick-off for Franchise tagging, and only the Eagles so far have tabbed LJ Smith. Look for the Pats to use it on Randy Moss, the Seahawks may consider using it for Marcus Trufant, although word is it may go to Kicker Josh Brown. In Dallas the speculation is OT Flozell Adams gets the tag and Oakland CB Asomugha is up for it. Look for KC DE Jared Allen and Baltimore DE Terrell Suggs to wear it as well. That is some hot potential FA's who won't be available now. There will be afew teams hoping for some of those to slip through the cracks. I know Jacksonville is desperately keen to see Suggs or Allen on the market.

3) No word on Favre

His last pass was an INT, but will it be his final pass? Favre is still contemplating, and if it wasn't for that ill-fated INT I would say he would have already retired. He still should, it isn't as though his stellar reputation will be impacted. First ballot HOF. Question is, in 5 years, or 6 !
