1) Brandon Flowers = Mike Mayock's new pet
He gave him the biggest rave I have heard in quite a while. Calling him a top ten pick when nobody else has him in the first round? I think a Cover 2 team late first round could consider him, but at 5'9 and when his best film is of him in run support...well, not a top ten pick.
2) More slippage
All these poor top ranked guys. They haven't played a game or done a thing in a couple of months but the draft gurus are seeing them slip. Take Glen Dorsey. Consensus #1 at some point, then he slides because they get excited by those they saw. Not playing in the senior bowl certainly hurts them in the media circles, especially when you look at how Sedrick Ellis used a standout Senior Bowl to climb the boards. Lets put it perspective though. For me, Dorsey goes #4. Why? Purely because of system fit.
3) Who is the next Mamula?
Will be interesting to see who is the workout wonder of the combine. Donnie Avery, WR from Houston is predicted to run the best time in the 40, but who else emerges to make themselves some money. An interesting article on ESPN.com about Mamula the other day. Made the suggestion that if he wasn't drafted so high that his career would have been deemed solid.
