27 FEB - 2008

1) JAGS ADD SPEEDY WR

Former First round draft pick Troy WIlliamson is off to the Jaguars after a trade with Minnesota. A sixth round pick is the word on the compensation. The Jags now possess three former first round WR's on the roster, including two top ten picks. The Jags need one of the to be great this year. Williamson has elite speed, something the Jags have lacked, and will be hoping that former Vikings coach Mike Tice - the Jaguars Assistant HC - can get him motivated.

2) System CB's

Cover 2 corners, man corners or all around? That is the big question after the combine. Highly regarded Va Tech CB Flowers - Mike Mayocks favourite - ran poorly (in the 4.6s) and confirmed what I believe, he will be a Cover 2 guy. He is a player, but limited in man roles.

3) $$ Issues

It seems the guaranteed $$ needed to sign first round pick is almost a disincentive to draft highly. Why would any team want to have to pay that to an unproven guy. I am in favour of a set limit for draft spots (as NBA use) to reduce the ridiculous signing bonuses being offered.
