12 MAR - 2008

1) Carr Confirmed

Former Texan, Panther and #1 overall pick David Carr has officially signed with New York Giants in a $1million deal plus incentives. He is reunited with his former coach Chris Palmer (from the Texan days). There is talk that Carr will compete with Jared Lorenzon for the backup spot. As long as it isn't a pie-eating competition, then Carr would have a chance. The expression 'eat him for breakfast' may not be too far stretched for Lorenzen who weighs in almost 280lbs. Him and JaMarcus Russell should definitely be having an eating challenge. Perhaps both are the answer for the O line troubles. Either way, Carr should be able to assume the #2 job by training camp.

2) Stewart Injury Questions

Is it boredom creeping in that fills our pages with draft doubt? The latest buzz is a toe injury for Jonathon Stewart. Some whispers have the Oregon back potentially needing surgery on the toe. His 4.4 combine made me feel ok about his toe. The cynic in me says it was start by a team drafting in the 20's hoping for a chance to get him.

3) Saints Banking on Injured Linebackers

In Jonathon Vilma and Dan Morgan, New Orleans has acquired two of the best potential middle linebackers in the game. The question is - can they stay healthy? Dan Morgan gets a concussion in a pillow fight and Vilma got his knees from the public health system, so can either of them be relied on? I really like the moves as if either of them works out, the price for them combined is reasonable. If they both do, the Saints should see a huge improvement. Now all they need is to get one of the top 2 CB's in the draft to compete again for a NFC Championship spot.
