Updated Mock Draft

1. Miami Dolphins – Chris Long, DE, Virginia

Dolphins would consider trading down if they had the right offer, but Long is the perfect pick in Sparano’s 34 defense if they remain.

2. St. Louis Rams – Jake Long, OL, Michigan

Time to find a replacement for Orlando Pace. Meet Jake Long.

3. Atlanta Falcons – Glen Dorsey, DL, LSU

The Falcons need QB help but perhaps aren't sure they want to make that commitment to Matt Ryan. I would not be surprised if Ryan was the pick, but a healthy Dorsey now and a QB in the second is possible.

4. Oakland Raiders – Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas

With his speed and production, Al Davis can't resist.

5. Kansas City Chiefs – Ryan Clady, OL, Boise

Needs all over the place for the Chiefs. Offensive line is definitely very high on the list and they were hoping Jake Long would get to them. A trade down would be a possibility to get one of the next tier O Linemen, but instead they stay and take the next best player.

6. New York Jets – Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Ohio State

The pass rusher is too explosive to pass up for the Jets. If Matt Ryan is on the board it will be very interesting to see what they do.

7. New England Patriots – Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy

Two CB starters are gone and the process of replacing them starts here.

8. Baltimore Ravens – Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College

Defensive help could be used, but the QB issue is urgent for the Ravens, for whom Troy Smith isn't the answer. Ravens are even more determined to use this pick on a QB with Ryan there for the taking.

9. Cincinnati Bengals – Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC

Free agency saw some big improvements on defense and Ellis becomes the latest.

10. New Orleans Saints – Mike Jenkins, CB, USF

Defense is where the holes are for the Saints. Cornerback is a primary need and the Saints can get a top CB.

11. Buffalo Bills – Dominique Rodgers Cromartie, CB, Tennessee State

Plenty of areas of need for the Bills. More OL help, CB, WR are all priority spots, but look for CB here.

12. Denver Broncos – Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma

Time to give Cutler some more receiving help alongside Brandon Marshall.

13. Carolina Panthers – Keith Rivers, LB, USC

Panthers would seriously consider one of the Top 3 QB’s here, but in this mock, they go for a top LB to add to the unit.

14. Chicago Bears - Jeff Otah, OL, Pittsburgh

Endless possibilities for the Bears who need WR, RB, OL, QB help. OL is possibly the safest and the big guy from Pittsburgh gets the call.

15. Detroit Lions – Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois

A few need areas, but RB is an immediate need for the Lions.

16. Arizona Cardinals – Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas

Unsure if they will keep Edge around with his cap number, the Cards need a viable alternative. Jonathon Stewart would have been the pick if healthy. but his stock may be under consideration with this injury, so Jones gets the nod.

17. Minnesota Vikings – Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida

Defensive End is a need spot for the Vikings, along with LB. Look for the Vikes to address Defensive End early. Brian Brohm on the board could be tempting for the Vikings.

18. Houston Texans – Limas Sweed, WR, Texas

The signing of Chris Brown took the RB need back a round, so a target opposite Andre Johnson becomes vital and Sweed stays in state.

19. Philadelphia Eagles – DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal

The Eagles need another WR target and Jackson is a big play guy at WR and returning.

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Dan Connor, LB, Penn State

Connor should be an immediate contributor to the Bucs. Don't discount a RB here.

21. Washington Redskins – Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson

A pass rusher is the likely option, but the Redskins need to replace the departed Sean Taylor, and Kenny Phillips could be a candidate there, but the speedy pass rusher gets the nod after an outsanding combine workout.

22. Dallas Cowboys – Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan

RB would be a chance, but the big guns are already gone. So Manningham will look to bond with Tony Romo to take over for Terry Glenn and TO.

23. Pittsburgh Steelers – Brandon Albert, OL, Virginia

The aging Steelers OLine struggled this past season as evidenced by the Jags domination. Time to bring in some youth.

24. Tennessee Titans – Quentin Groves, DE, Auburn

WR could also be an option here, but a first round pass rusher should add plenty to the Titans who are likely to have high turnover at the position.

25. Seattle Seahawks – Chris Williams, OL, Vanderbilt

RB is no longer a need for Seattle after their FA work, so Hasselbeck needs more help up front.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars – Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina

D Line depth was a problem last year and Balmer is a need pick with Stroud gone. A DE could be considered here.

27. San Diego Chargers – Kenny Phillips, S, Miami

Not too many huge needs for the Chargers. More speed and athleticism would help greatly and Phillips will be an eventual upgrade to the secondary.

28. Dallas Cowboys – Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas

The Cowboys may look to trade out here if the RB isn't where they want. Otherwise, look for CB help and return help.

29. San Francisco 49'ersJames Hardy, WR, Indiana

The Niners need some youth at WR, and the big Hardy would be a good fit.

30. Green Bay Packers – Fred Davis, TE, USC

The pack missed a reliable TE target and with Bubba Franks gone, here is the chance. A WR or CB could also be a chance here, but could be had next round.

*31 New England Patriots – Pick forfeited due to Spygate

32. New York Giants – Jerod Mayo, LB, Tennessee

There is no bigger need for the Giants than LB.

Some fourth round picks to look for:
- Ali Highsmith has slid out of the top 3 rounds due to health and size/speed issues. Perhaps someone gives him a look here.
- Look for Green Bay to attack Erik Ainge, Tennessee QB in this round
- Mike Hart will be a value pickup here to a team like Indianapolis
- Buffalo must get some WR value in this round, perhaps someone like Keenan Burton of Kentucky or Jerome Simpson from Coastal Carolina
- Kansas City should look for perhaps Steve Slaton or Tashard Choice to give some help to Larry Johnson
- TE should be good value here with Rucker and Bennett for teams like Atlanta and Miami
