- A kicker is 'Mr Irrelevant'. South Carolina's Ryan Succop completed the draft by being drafted to Kansas City.
- Teams are much better at scouting the smaller schools. No more is it that the big schools dominate proceedings, with numerous lesser-known players being drafted ahead of the name player, much to the chagrin of the fans.
- Cornerbacks abound. It seems more cornerbacks than any other position rolled off the production line this weekend. 39 cornerbacks in all were drafted. There were some big names to be had on day 2 - DJ Moore to the Bears in Round 5 (after being a first-round consideration), Victor 'Macho' Harris from Va Tech to the Eagles, Cary Harris (USC) and Mike Mickens (Cincinatti) coming off very late.
- A great college runner means little in the draft process. James Davis and Javon Ringer had standout collegiate careers, but both had to wait till the 5th round to be called. One of the Big Ten's best - PJ Hill, went undrafted. If nothing else, this is a great warning to all underclassmen.
- Little love for the QBs. Not many starting hopefuls among the Day 2 selections. The absence of John Parker Wilson the real surprise.
- How about the Patriots drafting a long-snapper. Jake Ingram from Hawaii was the standout long-snapper in the collegiate ranks and this skill has earnt him a draft-spot and healthy paycheck. Not sure how many LS specialists have come before.
- Squandering picks. It seems too many teams gave up to much to move up to draft a player noone else was targeting. The New Orleans Saints stood out as guilty of this with punter Thomas Morstead. Jacksonville also did this to take small school CB Derek Cox in Round 3.
- Speaking of specialists...Louie Sakoda was a Groza award winner and an All-American in consecutive years - one year as kicker, one as punter. But he wasn't drafted. Perhaps a jack of all trades and master of none?
